AAUW National advocates for federal, state and local laws and policies to ensure gender equity and end discrimination. AAUW National advances women’s economic security by shining a light on the gender pay gap and unequal wages in the workplace, as well as championing and broadening educational and professional opportunities for women and girls, particularly in the STEM fields.
AAUW National has awarded over $115 million in fellowships and grants to more than 13,000 scholars and organizations in 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and Guam, as well as 150 countries, making it one of the largest scholarship programs for women in the world. Awardees have gone on to be award-winning authors, scientists, scholars, changemakers and community leaders.
AAUW National also convenes the annual National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) and invites hundreds of college women for three days of leadership training, inspiration and networking. Our Branch has awarded scholarships to our alumnae to participate in a transformative experience that includes workshops, panels, and speakers and experts and gain valuable professional development and lifelong connections.
